Define Your Life

At some point in your life, you must decide how you will live. The default state is merely existing. It is going from one day to the next without much thought or intentionality. You can continue this from the day you were born until the day you die. However, this way of living is rarely meaningful.

If you want a meaningful life with significance, answer this question:

What type of life do you want?

This is a big question, but at some point we must address it if we want a life beyond the average. What do you want out of life?

Do you wake up each morning and work towards a goal you've defined, or are you living each day merely hoping things will get better? Are you passively letting life dictate what will happen to you, or are you taking charge of your life and turning it into something worth reading about?

Think of it this way, if your life was a book, would anyone want to read it?

While your life may not be a book, it is a story. As the author of your life, it is much easier to write chapter 2 if you know where you want the story to end up. Otherwise, you can meander through life only to be met with a sudden ending.

The great thing about writing your story is it is never too late to change the direction. You can write a different ending and use the previous chapters as motivation.

Until you decide what type of life you want to live, you will only exist. Nothing more, nothing less. So what about today? What if today is the day you decided to stop letting life happen to you and started living life with a purpose?

Here's the secret. Today is that day. Do it.
